I Support You

I love the variety in wardrobe that the warmer months offer to us, and it is so nice to let the eye adjust to different necklines, hemlines, and silhouettes.
But it isn't just the eye that needs to be adjusted come springtime...
Let's talk about undergarments, ladies. I don't want to get too personal here, but this is a MAJOR pet peeve of mine - when the a perfectly lovely outfit is RUINED by a poor choice in undergarments.
We've all seen it happen: a lovely blouse, with a ratty old sports bra outlined beneath (what?!); a cute strapless maxidress, worn over an everyday cotton bra (why?!); a classic fitted sheath dress broadcasting the outline of granny undies (how?!); even the dreaded tank top with no bra at all(?!?!?!?!).  You see where this is going...and it ain't pretty.
Of course, my readers wouldn't dare commit any of the fashion crimes above. Still, it is helpful to take stock of what's in that top drawer every now and then, and the change of seasons is the perfect time to do so. Here's what I recommend every woman should have at her disposal:
  • Strapless bra in nude and black
  • Seamless bras for wear under knits and tee-shirts
  • Racerback bras for wear under tanks and halters
  • Nude seamless thong for wear under white denim, etc
  • Assorted seamless thongs for wear under fitted bottoms
  • Seamless boy shorts for wear under shorter skirts
  • Seamless nude slip to wear under dresses that may need extra lining
Considering that all these items can acquired at pretty much any department store/boutique/mall store/local TJMaxx, it really is quite easy to add them to your repertoire if they are missing!
And by all means, add in color and prints to your heart's content - just make sure that the only ones who see them are the people whom you really want to see them, and not the judgy lady standing behind you in the grocery store (ahem...that's me).
